rain games were once a subject of intense criticism and horror amongst the gaming community. Back in the 90’s and early 2000’s when PC gaming was in its prime, people loved to buy all the games, but the amount of software and computer power needed to run these games properly on your home computer was near impossible. It was beyond annoying, and it remains to this day, one of the key reasons why I walked away from PC gaming and swore I would never go back.

Until now.

Most PC games are designed for use on the Windows Operating Systems, thus making it difficult for Mac users, such as myself to have the opportunity to play some of the great offerings made for computers. I found myself looking around for a new Train Simulator game to play, and I managed to stumble across Trainz Simulator: Engineers Edition 2010 and to my surprise I discovered that it was indeed purpose built for the Mac OS.

So naturally I jumped right in and downloaded it for $60.

Trainz is a great game, and it gives Mac users the opportunity to play a decent simulation of railroading. There are a large number of locomotives, rolling stock, and routes to choose from, and each route allows the player to take part in various scenarios. If your wanting to drive the morning express, or take the midnight freight train, the options in Trainz allow you to do just that. Famous trains like the Big Boy and Union Pacific are available, as well as English classics like The Mallard and The Flying Scotsman.
